Blacksmiths Cottage Nursery was started in 1998 by Ben Potterton with a grant and loan from the Princes Trust and South Norfolk District Council.

Ben has a lifelong interest in plants, attending Easton College when leaving school and upon qualifying, started working for Wyevale Garden Centres.

The nursery has slowly developed over the years, starting with two poly-tunnels on a mud field adjacent to Ben’s long suffering parent’s house.

Today
The nursery now grows around 2000 different species of perennials, along with a coffee shop, gardens, display beds and regular events throughout the year. It is still continuing to develop with more plans for the future.

The Team
Ben often works away on various projects but is still very much involved in the daily running of the nursery and is in the garden most weekends.

We are a family business with visitors to the nursery usually being greeted by Ben’s Mum and Dad, Jill and Dave, or Ben’s Wife, Sarah . If you’re lucky you might actually see Ben!
